Für Léontine sind Museen im Wesentlichen Netzwerke, die Gemeinschaften und Institutionen verbinden. Dies erfordert den Aufbau von Vertrauen, was nur durch eine Politik der Transparenz möglich ist. Als solches könnte (und sollte) ein Museum zur Menschenwürde und sozialen Gerechtigkeit, zur globalen Gleichheit und zum Wohlergehen des Planeten beitragen.
Léontine ist eine niederländische Museologin, die in Deutschland arbeitet. Sie ist Direktorin der Staatlichen Ethnographischen Sammlungen Sachsen (Völkerkundemuseen Dresden, Leipzig und Herrnhut). Zuvor war sie Programmdirektorin des Jüdischen Museums Berlin und stellvertretende Direktorin des Museums Europäischer Kulturen in Berlin. Sie ist in den Vorständen mehrerer Museumsorganisationen aktiv. Sie war unter anderem Mitglied des Vorstands des International Council of Museums (ICOM) und Gründungspräsidentin des International Committee for Collecting (COMCOL). Sie ist unter anderem Vorsitzende der Dutch Slavery Heritage Education Foundation, Mitglied des Wissenschaftlichen Beirats der Dekoloniale (Berlin), stellvertretende Vorsitzende des Kuratoriums der Sächsischen Landeszentrale für politische Bildung und stellvertretende Vorsitzende des Wissenschaftlichen Beirats der KZ-Gedenkstätte Mauthausen (Österreich). Wichtige akademische und berufliche Interessen von Léontine sind die Theorie und Praxis von Professionalität und Berufsethik. For Léontine, museums are essentially networks that connect communities and institutions. This requires building trust, which is only possible through a policy of transparency. As such, a museum could (and should) contribute to human dignity and social justice, global equality and the wellbeing of the planet. Léontine is a Dutch museologist working in Germany. She is Director of the State Ethnographic Collections of Saxony (Ethnographic Museums Dresden, Leipzig and Herrnhut). She was previously Program Director of the Jewish Museum Berlin and Deputy Director of the Museum of European Cultures in Berlin.
She is active on the boards of several museum organizations. Among other things, she was a member of the Executive Board of the International Council of Museums (ICOM) and founding president of the International Committee for Collecting (COMCOL). Among other things, she is Chairwoman of the Dutch Slavery Heritage Education Foundation, a member of the Scientific Advisory Board of Dekoloniale (Berlin), Deputy Chairwoman of the Board of Trustees of the Saxon State Office for Political Education and Deputy Chairwoman of the Scientific Advisory Board of the Mauthausen Concentration Camp Memorial (Austria). Léontine’s main academic and professional interests are the theory and practice of professionalism and professional ethics.
